Gamescom 2010 - Jay Wilson in the Q & A Panel

by on Aug.20, 2010, under Diablo 3 News

Jay Wilson answered questions of various community sites.

I'll start with the in-game interview:

Unfortunately, we hear from various community sites and over again the same questions that have already been answered in other (sometimes older) interviews. I am now roughly one times on the content and versehe him with some personal comments and conclusions:

  • First point is the PvP mode of Diablo III. We are all wondering how it charges with Fury and co. can work to create a similarly fast-paced PvP game like Diablo II. Unfortunately, Jay is not a large one on it, but confirmed that Blizzard is concerned with PvP. For a player may target limit of ~ 5 people / game Blizzard should consider, however, a kind of arena-concept in order to continue to offer PvP as a team sport.
  • Set items will have a higher importance than in Diablo II would be a shame if it would come to a "look-alike" contest á la World of Warcraft. This is here to stay but probably saved as much weight is given to variable stats.
  • Boss fights are a bit versatile. This allows bosses to change into different battle stages and behave differently. It is not, however, be such that a group must be divided into the tank, damage dealer, and other "wow" Similar roles.
  • The Diablo 3 team is in the degree of content development and is developing an all files of the game. Even the first act it is somewhat revised, since certain subtleties of the storyline is not entirely satisfactory. Since it is known that Blizzard certainly is late, there is still hope for an early beta.
  • Blizzard also deals with the balance. This involves the question of which class can dish out as much dmg / time to keep the game exciting. Sorceresses now have such an "Arcane Power", which is similar to the famous mana from Diablo II very much. Even the monks have been using the "Spirit", a system similar to the fury of barbarians missed. The monk builds in the fight "Spirit" and thus can activate special attacks.
  • Known NPCs return. In addition to Deckard Cain is also witch Adria (Diablo 1) play a central role.
  • Crafted items will remain in the endgame of interest and can be reached in accordance rarely absolute top-Stats. As in Diablo II, it may be that you craftet unbeatable values on an item.
  • Precious stones have many (perhaps up to 14) levels, are consumed, however, thanks to simpler methods also base much more often. Thus, for the blacksmith's probably a total of 6 item types provided with sockets without using up a quest reward.
  • Chars can personalize example of coloring agent, by which you can customize the color equipment. On the subject of "talisman" Bashiok but wanted to say anything.
  • An achievement system is planned, but it will not go there probably stupid monster kills. There could be an especially busy crafting Achievements for Itembauer, but also PvP-related successes.

PC games also ask some questions to Jay Wilson

Click here for the complete interview

There will be no close-ups of the chars, game Cutszenes and visual changes through the Chars skills. Blizzard here saves development time and leaves space for changes in addon (s).

Extension (s) exist as it did for Diablo II (LoD) is already planning to start the game in order to integrate them into the perfect story.

Something unfavorable is expressed from the Jay funding model. He leaves regionally, such as Blizzard can pull some money out of Diablo III. Conceivable are small services such as Char-transfer, rename, and co. for even in the Blizzard World of Warcraft player asks for the fund. Readers with no background information here, however, could also be a monthly fee to read out of it - what has been frequently denied by Blizzard.

More information will follow.

Diablo 3 - Gamescom 2010: (Crafting / artisans)

by on Aug.18, 2010, under Diablo 3 News

Artisans are a new NPC class, which replaced the Horadric Cube in crafting. They follow the player in the world and can even increase in the number of completed Crafts level.

You must provide the artisans only (eg smith) Mats and with gold, and he has done the rest of the first blacksmith from 3 classes and can also happen to be socketed items - but not exclusively as a quest reward.

Jay Wilson explains in this video the whole system:

Diablo 3 - Drop chance by Health Globes

by on Aug.12, 2010, under Diablo 3 News

Bornakk announced yesterday in the Battle.net forum to speak again and said something to the drop rate of Health Globes, which will replace the potions in Diablo III (partial).

Health Globes are small magical items (different thickness), which are left behind from slain monsters, and heal the whole group in collecting something.

In this example the following is now known:

  • Normal Monsters: There is a small chance that they will drop the death mini Health Globes
  • Champions: Champion Monster (formerly blue in Diablo II) may already fall in battle and also at a slightly higher death can Healthcare Globe
  • Rare monsters (known in Diablo II through their funny names diced) can be already lost 25% of all life and death in even greater Globes.
  • Uniques / Bosses: Here you have to let yourself be surprised, but often they are at the end of quest chains, so that a cure in the fight rather insignificant.

Furthermore, by the way Bashiok revealed a few details:

  • The victory Breaker Assault Beast (known from the gameplay video) will probably be a unique monster.
  • Rare monsters can get various magic affixes (maybe even teleport)
  • Healing potions, there will be continued - but they are no longer available in large quantities and have a cooldown timer
  • Globes can probably come out of boxes

Diablo 3 on the Gamescom 2010

by on Aug.10, 2010, under Diablo 3 News

As in the past year, you can allude Diablo 3 back on the game show Gamescom in Cologne.

Less encouraging, however, that Blizzard again presented the previous version, which does not include other new features. Why Blizzard has decided to take this step, is unfortunately not entirely clear.

It could indicate that they present to the next BlizzCon such serious changes in the demo that they do not even give Gamescom can be made suitable.

A small ray of hope remains:

This year, D3 lead designer Jay Wilson at Gamescom to be a guest and answer questions about Diablo third

Starcraft II - about Wings of Liberty

by on Aug.10, 2010, under Starcraft 2

We are sure you know, Blizzard has posted on 27/07/2010 Starcraft 2 "Wings of Liberty".

Publication is the game for Windows and Mac. About console versions we have unfortunately not yet available - as Blizzard has done but in the past year, intensive Gespäche with Microsoft [1] and Starcraft 2 would certainly be playable on the Xbox 360 is a later release similar to the Playstation version of Diablo is not excluded.

Starcraft II multiplayer via Battle.net only / online forced to install

To install Starcraft 2 you have to connect you to Battle.net, even if you want to play the game offline only. Your CD-Key is so tied to the account. If someone really do not have Internet access, it must at least briefly with his PC connected to the grid.

Initially there was some excitement about the lack of LAN play, the Blizzard has probably removed from protection against piracy. For smaller LAN parties but this does not pose a big problem, because an ordinary DSL16k line provides enough power for the relatively few data transferred.

Next point of criticism was the "RealID" (Real name in user profiles), for the Blizzard Battle.net account wanted to introduce. This issue now seems to be off the table for now, according to the user (as reported) uA Community Manager Bashiok the potential for misuse of this feature vorführten.

The Fort tongues of Wings of Liberty are:

  • Starcraft 2 - Heart of the Swarm and
  • Starcraft 2 - Legacy of the Void

These are (expected year on year), the remaining races closer to illuminate. Whether, however, Blizzard's new addon policy may be doubted. However, the content offered in single-player missions for money is quite okay.

Blizzard has invented something that dusty genre of real-time strategy StarCraft II is certainly not new, but it looks as if it were still on the state of the time.

The graphics are enough for an RTS, and quite pretty to look at. Measured against the very low hardware requirements (see end of article) they can be described as very successful, even if it requires the full game and enjoyment of a powerful computer.

Some users still reported from some teething problems with older generation graphics chips. Blizzard will be the next few weeks to patch some. Even on newer Nvidia ION integrated graphics solutions such as Starcraft 2 is playable in a very low level of detail.

Frame rate limit:

Unnecessary overloading of the graphics card can be prevented, in which one limited by a small change in the config, the frame rates.

Opens to the variables.txt and adds at the end of the following lines:

frameratecapglue = 30
frameratecap = 60

Level Editor

As in the first Part you can get your maps with little effort on a level editor.

Conclusion:

Blizzard delivers a truly successful game. For just under 50 €, it is certainly worth its price because it probably will be announced as its predecessor for years. Starcraft 2 should be a compulsory purchase order, even if you have not played the previous might.
