Massive Inc. is a leading provider of advertising in games, which will now take care of the marketing of Battle.net. Blizzard closes in-game advertising from though, so we probably just a well-designed pre-game area will get.

Paul Sams (CEO): "This partnership does not include in-game advertising, as Massive understands and respects our stance against advertising that might detract from gameplay or offend our players."

Blizzard and Microsoft - Cooperation of the Giants

Blizzard to Microsoft I would not throw a giant in a pot. More David and Goliath :-)

Collect customer information and surfing habits, but all search engines -> Alexa, Google, Yahoo, etc.

I think it's not so bad as long as you get no spam. The games I would buy yet more
